Dear Littleton Parents:

Welcome to the 2024-25 school year!

Please review the study skills tips listed below.  Are students writing down their assignments?  Do they have the materials they need to complete their work?  Do they have a set time in their day to complete homework?

Remember to set a time and place for reinforcing study skills.  Have a place at home where your children can study without any distractions. Work together with your child, which will be a positive way to support their academic successes!

Study Skills Tips for Parents:

Set a Schedule

  1. Show an interest in your child's homework assignments and encourage a regular time to complete it. Ask about all subject areas and maintain a working schedule.

  2. Teach your child how to be organized. Be sure your child keeps a homework assignment book and ask to review. Check your child’s backpack each day.
To help your child organize homework, create a homework checklist with the following items for each subject:

    • I completed the assignment ____

    • I checked the assignment to be sure it was correct___

    • I had no homework in this subject tonight___

  3. Eliminate as many distractions as possible during study time. Make sure your child has a specific place to complete schoolwork that offers ample lighting and minimal noise.

  4. Develop a strategy for reinforcing study skills. Find a consistent plan that works for your family.

  5. Try to relate the homework to your child's everyday life. For instance, fractions and measurements can be learned as the family prepares a favorite food. When you purchase items, follow a recipe, or decorate your home, math principles are being used.

Please refer to the school programs on the website in the winter, as we have many exciting events and activities to look forward to
in the 2024-2025 school year.
